Free afterschool, right now
Every LAUSD school offers free care until 6 p.m. through ELO-P. No income test. You apply at your child's school.
Free drop-in at county parks
"Every Body Plays" runs weekday afternoons for ages 7–17 with no registration — including the unincorporated areas the City's programs miss.
Subsidies that pay for care
CalWORKs and Crystal Stairs can cover an afterschool program. Read the catch before you apply — it doesn't pay every kind of program.
Charter funds for lessons
Enroll in a homeschool charter and you get roughly $2,500–$4,300 a year to spend on martial arts, dance, STEM and tutoring at approved vendors.
