Afterschool funding FAQs for LA parents
- Is there really free afterschool in Los Angeles?
- Yes. Every California school district receives ELO-P funding for free before-school, afterschool, summer and intersession care for TK through 6th grade, with no income test. LAUSD delivers it through Beyond the Bell at more than 700 schools.
- What if I want to pay for a specific dance studio or dojo?
- Homeschool charter enrichment funds are the only California channel that pays a private program directly. Childcare subsidies pay licensed care, ELO-P pays school districts, and grants fund nonprofits — none of them will pay a stand-alone enrichment class.
