For programs
There is money in Los Angeles that small Black-owned programs almost never reach. Of the 184 programs in this directory, exactly one is both confirmed Black-led and a known homeschool charter vendor. The barrier is a process nobody writes down — so we wrote it down.
Become a homeschool charter vendor
The full checklist for all fifteen LA-serving charters — the packet, the insurance limits, the DOJ ORI number that turns twenty-four Live Scans into four, and the three-to-five month cash-flow gap nobody warns you about. 7 of the fifteen won't even accept your application directly.
List your program free
Five minutes. Families searching for what you teach will find you, and any who homeschool can request you at their charter with one click.
Feature your program
Add a photo and take the top of the page in front of LA families searching for what you teach. Paid placement is labelled as such, and it never moves you above the Black-led listings.
Grants you can actually apply for
LA84 takes small grant applications year-round. The California Black Freedom Fund, CCF's Black Empowerment Fund, Black Equity Collective and Ready to Rise all fund Black-led youth work — and several give unrestricted money. Weingart, Ballmer, Annenberg and the Dodgers Foundation are invitation-only, so don't spend your time there.
